Editorial method: how we check the data

ParPass is written and maintained by the ParPass editorial team. We are independent: no course, city or pass issuer pays for or reviews our numbers. This page explains exactly how every figure on the site is produced.

1. Official sources only

Each pass record is built from the issuer's own page (city parks department, municipal golf site or course operator). The record stores that page as source_url, plus any secondary official pages. Each per-round rate scenario carries its own source link.

2. A verified date on every row

Every record has a last_verified date: the day we last read the official page and confirmed the figures. That date is shown at the top of each pass and city page. Currently our data was verified between Oct 16, 2026 and Oct 20, 2026.

3. Unknown means null

If an issuer does not publish a value, we record it as null and show “Not published”. We do not estimate prices, rates or rules. Where sources conflict, we use the issuer's own page and describe the conflict in the pass's data notes, and we rate each record's confidence (high, medium or low).

4. Automated validation

Before the site is published, a build step validates every record against a JSON Schema: a record without a source URL or verified date, or a rate scenario without a source, fails the build.

5. Break-even math

Break-even rounds = pass price ÷ savings per round, rounded up. Savings per round is the published rate without the pass minus the rate with it, or the published discount or rebate percentage of the regular rate. The same formula powers the calculator, and both implementations are tested against each other.

6. Corrections

Send the official link for anything out of date to [email protected]. We re-check the official page and update the record and its verified date.

7. Independence and money

Sponsored listings are labeled, and any affiliate link is disclosed (disclosure). Payment never changes a price, ranking or break-even figure.
